Is TMS Covered by Insurance?
COST OF TMS FOR DEPRESSION
We understand how stressful depression can be for individuals and their families, and are aware how much the cost of medical care can add to the stress. This is why we are committed to providing you with the necessary assistance to make the most informed decision about your medical and financial options. Before you begin treatment, our TMS coordinator will explain in detail all potential charges, and if needed, provide potential financing options so that you can make appropriate plans.
The cost of transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) is comparable to other procedures for serious medical conditions. The price of a course of TMS varies, depending on the number of TMS sessions a patient needs and the extent of health insurance reimbursement.
INSURANCE COVERAGE
At this time in California, health insurance companies are more likely to reimburse claims submitted by patients upon appeal, rather than up-front or on initial review. This is typical for new and innovative therapies such as TMS.
OUR COMMITMENT TO HELP YOU THROUGH THE PROCESS
We are committed on our end to move claims forward; we have found that the likelihood of success increases significantly when patients also conscientiously follow-through with their end of the appeals process. As TMS and its benefits become more widely known, insurance companies are likely to start providing up-front coverage.
We are committed to assisting patients when it comes time for patients to fill out and submit bills and insurance claim forms for reimbursement, and we work hard with you to stay on top of the claims process.
Our TMS coordinator welcomes questions about any of the above issues regarding costs, payments, insurance coverage and reimbursements.
MEDICARE
At this time, Dr. Stein has opted-out of Medicare; patients on MediCare therefore cannot submit West Coast TMS Institute bills to MediCare for reimbursement.
