“JUST THE RIGHT AMOUNT OF PSYCHIATRIST…
The word psychiatry usually puts off most people as they immediately go to the dark place of a straight jacket in a mental ward that has a constant grayness inside and out while the doctors and nurses perform electric shock treatment. I prefer to describe it as something that helps keep your mental state in check, helps move you forward and through tough times. I would particularly like to point out that Dr. Stein is just that. She is helpful, smart, empathic, caring yet has nice boundaries that give you a sense of security. I have to admit, I’m a tough customer and I have found that many psychiatrists and/or therapists do not have a clue what they are doing. That’s not the case with her. She’s excellent.

I cannot recommend Dr. Stein highly enough, especially to those who may be hesitant about going. Quick story – when I first went to her, I purposely sat in her chair and she sat on the couch. This went on for at least a year and she never said a word and went along with it. I finally fessed up that I knew what I was doing and now I sit on the couch, by my choice of course. Dr. Stein is patient, kind, thorough and extremely intelligent. You’d be lucky to have her as your psychiatrist. She’s a good egg. Embrace your anxiety, you’ll feel better.”

“Dr. Stein has helped me in so many ways….when I first saw her I was depressed, anxious, had no self-esteem and no confidence. She worked with me with compassion, really listened to what I had to say. She began me on an antidepressant, made sure to find out if I had any side effects (I did have one, which dissipated after just about a week), then worked with me in therapy so that I began to be aware of how much I tried to please everyone else, and neglected my own potential. Once I figured that out, the rest just came….I learned how to soothe myself, not to personalize people’s negative comments, to understand that people have their own problems and sometimes perceived insults are just the result of their own difficulties. I have learned a new way to live my life, and for this I will always be grateful to Dr. Stein.”
